Mozart with Mary Wilson
Soprano Mary Wilson returns to perform Mozart’s grandest composition, Great Mass in C Minor by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Mozart’s unfinished masterpiece was composed during 1782/83 in thanks for his wife Constanze’s recovery from illness. It was created on a grand scale and contains some of his most powerful and inspiring music heightened by spellbinding vocal virtuosity for soloists and choir. In a letter to his father Leopold dated 4 January 1783, Mozart mentioned a vow he had made to write a mass when he would bring his then fiancée Constanze as his wife to Salzburg; Constanze then sang the "Et incarnatus est" at its premiere, which Soprano Mary Wilson will perform.
